Flight Hong Kong – Brisbane cancelled

Unbelievable! It was while going to check the schedules of my flight Hong Kong – Brisbane, which recently required a negative covid test, that I discovered that Cathay Pacific had cancelled it. When I think about the time spent selecting it !

Like me, do you have more and more flights cancelled for no good reason? I suspect that airlines offer flights at very attractive fares at very early stages, knowing that they are unlikely to be economically viable. And planning for their cancellation to fill their other more expensive flights.

But in my case, the impact is multiple:

  • Cost : I was offered another flight two days later. So two days stopover in Hong Kong where accommodation is very expensive
  • Sanitary : covid is flourishing in China. The risk increases that the test I will have to do on site (it must have less than 48 hours) to take the plane is positive.
  • Motorcycle fatigue : my time in Australia is limited. Then I would have to make longer and tiring trips to stick to the schedule.

I didn’t need to be upset: I cancelled everything!

Goodbye Cathay Pacific, who lived up to their reputation for quality of service and refunded all. I will finally stop in Singapore. The carbon footprint is slightly worse :’-(. And I had to add 150 € not to degrade it more by taking an A330 instead of an A350 to arrive in Brisbane.

I wish I wont have another flight cancelled!
